§ 2-228. Organizational meeting.

  • (a)

    The clerk shall, within three days of the appointment of the commissioners, notify them, in writing, of their appointment and cause them to file an oath of office prior to their first meeting. The clerk shall also establish the time and place for the first meeting. The board shall meet at the time scheduled by the clerk and immediately elect a secretary who shall keep minutes of all board proceedings. The next order of business shall be the election of a president who shall preside over the meetings. Thereafter a vice-president and secretary shall be elected. All officers so elected shall hold office for a term of one year.

    (b)

    The board shall next establish a time and place for their regular meetings.

    (c)

    The board may take any authorized action by a majority vote of the members present including the establishment or amendment of rules and regulations applicable to the chief and all subordinate positions in the police and fire departments respectively and to the conduct of all business relating to the duties and responsibilities of the board of police and fire commissioners.
