§ 50-203. Street trees.

Latest version.
  • (a)

The subdivider shall plant at least one tree of an approved species, as recommended in a report titled, "Street Tree Inventory Report and Management Plan for the Village of Hartland," January 2003 and amendments thereto, in the street terrace area to be at least two inches in diameter at breast height (dbh-approximately 4.5 feet above ground). The total number of trees to be planted shall be based on one for every 50 feet of frontage on all streets and be spaced an average of about 50 feet apart. Street trees should be located at least 10 feet from driveways. The proposed location, size and types of trees shall be included in the landscaping plan required by section 50-214 and approved by the village urban forester.

    (b)

The landscaping plan required in section 50-214 shall provide for distribution of remaining trees. The plantings must take place within one year of completion and acceptance of all public improvements. The village board may waive these requirements depending on existing forestation and/or if substantial alternative landscaping, including trees, is to be provided within the land division or condominium development in accordance with a landscaping plan approved by the village board. If such a plan is not provided, a fee per lot (or per tree for two trees) set by resolution of the village board shall be paid by the developer or subdivider.
