§ 82-66. Definitions.

  • The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this division, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

    Bicycle means every vehicle propelled by the feet acting upon pedals and having wheels, any two of which are not less than 14 inches in diameter. Any such device having wheels which are less than 14 inches in diameter shall constitute a play vehicle and is subject to the regulations governing such vehicles.

    Bicycle lane means that portion of a roadway set aside by the village for the exclusive use of bicycles or other modes of travel where permitted under Wis. Stats. § 349.23(2)(a), and so designated by appropriate signs and markings.

    Bike route means any bicycle lane, bicycle way or highway which has been duly designated by the village and which is identified by appropriate signs and markings.

    Bicycle way means any path, sidewalk or portion thereof designated for the use of bicycles by the village.

    In-line skates means skates with wheels arranged singly in a tandem line rather than in pairs.

    Play vehicle means and includes, but is not limited to, coasters, tricycles, roller skates, sleds, toboggans, unicycles, bicycles with wheels which are less than 14 inches in diameter, "hot wheels," skateboards or any other toy vehicle upon which a person may ride but does not include in-line skates.
