§ 86-156. Creation.

(a)

Pursuant to Wis. Stats. chs. 61 and 66 and, without limitation, Wis. Stats. § 61.34(1), the village board hereby exercises its authority to create a municipal broadband utility within the village.

(b)

Duties. The broadband utility shall be responsible to investigate and plan, and upon authorization by the village board, acquire, construct, extend, improve, maintain, operate, lease, dispose of, regulate, and manage a municipal broadband system to provide, among other things, broadband, data, fiber optic, Internet, cable television, video and information services in and around the Hartland area.

(c)

Powers. The broadband utility of the village shall be under the jurisdiction of the broadband utility commission herein created and may exercise all powers necessary or desirable to effect the purposes of the commission subject to the direction of the village board of trustees.
