§ 66-6. Loud and unnecessary noise.

  • (a)

    Generally. No person shall make or assist in making any loud, disturbing or unnecessary sounds or noises such as may tend to unreasonably annoy or disturb the peace and quiet of another in the vicinity unless the noise cannot be prevented or is necessary for the health, safety or welfare of any person or the protection or preservation of property.

    (b)

    Motor vehicle noise. No person shall use or operate any motor vehicle in the village in a manner which tends to create any unreasonable noise or disturbance. Prohibited uses or operations under this section include, but are not limited to, the following:

    (1)

    Excessive and unnecessary acceleration causing the tires of such vehicle to squeal and emit unnecessary road noises or throw stone or gravel or causing any engine noise which tends to create any unreasonable noise or disturbance.

    (2)

    Operation of the horn in other than an emergency situation.

    (3)

    Operation of audio equipment at levels which tend to create any unreasonable noise or disturbance.
