§ 82-6. Erection of official traffic signs and signals.

  • The department of public works director shall procure, erect and maintain appropriate regulatory, warning and guide signs, signals and markings conforming to the Federal Highway Administration Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices . Such regulatory signs, signals and markings shall be installed after adoption of a corresponding regulation by either the village board or other body with jurisdiction. The public works director shall also receive and consider requests for signs, signals and markings and shall determine whether any requested sign, signal or marking shall be installed. The village board may consider any appeal made to a decision of the public works director under this section. The public works director shall submit a report to the village board in advance of any new sign, signal or marking installation outlining the location and nature of the installation.
